Laura Simpson RVN
- RVN – Practice Manager
My working life at Borden Lane Veterinary Surgery began in 1999, when I spent one day a week on work experience.
After leaving school I was offered a trainee position. In 2003 I passed my NVQ levels 2 and 3 and became a fully qualified Veterinary Nurse. I have worked as Head Veterinary Nurse since 2004 up until I left to have my first child in 2011. I returned back to work part-time as Assistant Practice Manager and in September 2015 I was promoted to Practice Manager. I still like to do my nursing and see our clients so you will still see me around in reception.
My daily duties have changed now from taking blood samples, assisting in operations, laboratory work and caring for the hospitalised animals. I am usually in the office keeping our website, memorial page and TV system up to date and work on keeping our practice running smoothly and professionally. I work alongside a great team of vets, nurses and receptionists and my colleagues share my commitment and enthusiasm to keep Borden Lane Vets the caring and professional surgery it is.
At present I have 3 cats: Maximus, Looshkin and Clarence (all have come to me as stray little kittens who needed veterinary care and ended up staying). I have a Minature Schnauzer called Rufus and a snake called Tulip.
I am onsite most days helping with the day to day and running of the practice.
Linda Deadman
Finance Manager
Being the Finance Manager for Borden Lane includes helping ensure the smooth running of the surgery and making sure most importantly that you, our clients, and your pets have a top level of service.
I am always available for a friendly chat to deal with any problems that may occur or any advice relating to our practice. I get great satisfaction from my job and enjoy every day I am here.
When I am not here I love spending time with my two grandchildren Rebekah and James. I love time with my family and friends.
I am at the surgery every Monday, Wednesday and Thursday from 8.30am to 4pm
I have 2 British Short Haired cats who also keep me busy at home. Raffe and Chiqua.
Kristi Akhurst
Office Administrator
I started at Borden Lane Vets back in 2010 originally as maternity cover for reception, luckily for me I was given the role of Office Administrator and to date have loved every minute of it. I work from Monday to Wednesday and am usually upstairs in the office, but you will see me sometimes on reception covering or saying hello to clients and helping where I can.
I have a Yorkshire Terrier called “Dot” who I rescued from here as she was brought in with a broken front leg as a puppy. She now lives a happy life on 3 legs but amazes us all her ability to let is have no effect on her what so ever!
Outside of work I like to walk, read and spend time with my son.
